Haaga-Helia IT Systems

From the beginning of your studies, you will use a range of digital systems. They make everyday life easier, support your learning, and keep you up to date. On this page, you’ll get to know the key IT systems — what they are, what they’re for, and how to get started.

In Haaga-Helia, we use MFA (multi‑factor authentication). It ensures that logging in to the systems is secure, and that your personal information is visible only to you. 

Laptop and smartphone for your studies

Haaga-Helia has BYOD policy (Bring Your Own Device). All students are required to have in their use

• a smartphone, where up install the Microsoft Authenticator for MFA logins, and
• a laptop starting from the orientation days. Haaga‑Helia uses the Windows 11 operating system in its teaching. Read more about  the recommended devices.

Student identification, usernames and passwords

In order to login to, for example, Peppi, Moodle and Office 365, you will need to confirm your identity electronically. As a new degree student you will receive your username and instructions on how to do the identification by email at the latest about a week before the start of your studies. Go ahead and activate them right away. Please note that it may take up to 24 hours after activation for your ID and password to work. More detailed instructions are available here. 

Haaga-Helia's digital systems

• Haaga-Helia's For students pages offer information on all matters related to your studies.  
• Peppi is your main tool for planning your studies (PSP Personal Study Plan), enrolling on courses, and viewing completed courses.
• The Study Guide contains the curricula and course descriptions of all Haaga-Helia degrees.
• In Lukkarikone ("Timetable machine") you can find the weekly schedules of your group and course implementations - and make and save your own personal timetable.
• Moodle is our learning platform, where you’ll find course materials, assignments, and submission folders. Every course has its own Moodle platform.
• Office 365 applications and Outlook email support communication, working on documents, and collaboration.
• Tuudo brings crucial study-related information to your mobile device. You can view your timetable, campus map, and much more all in one app.

Introduction to Digital Learning Environments Course for UAS Degree Students

The course Introduction to Digital Learning Environments (1 ECTS) allows you to get acquainted with Haaga-Helia's IT systems. If you wish, you can complete it before the orientation days. At the same time, you will practice independent online learning in Moodle. You can enrol on the course after you have first activated your username to Haaga-Helia systems. You will get your username and instructions on how to do the identification by email at the latest about a week before the start of your studies. 

Please enrol by following these instructions:

1. First identify yourself in Haaga-Helia's systems following these instructions. 

2. Register for the course

• Go to Peppi . Change the browsing language to English from top right.
• Identify yourself with your username and password. Leave the email part out (@myy.haaga-helia.fi) from the username.
• In the view that opens, click ->Study plan in the blue box.
• Select the Enrolments tab.
• Type in +Search for courses STU002HH1AE-3068 Introduction to Digital Learning Environments
•  Click the Enrol button at bottom right of the dialog box.
• Your registration is complete.

3. Log in to Moodle to complete the course no earlier than the next day

Follow the instructions below or watch this video  (the example is for logging in to a different course)

• Go to Moodle and click the Haaga-Helia login button. 
• Identify yourself with your username in the format [email protected] and password.
• Two-step authentication (MFA) is used. Read the instructions here.
• In the window that opens, select My courses.
• Open the course platform and start the course. If you get stuck with something, you can continue doing the assignments during the orientation. Course teacher returns to work 10th August, at which time you can ask her advice if necessary.

Instructions for the Mathematics Placement Test

If you start studies in business, XXXX, or you are a student of Haaga-Helia's open university, you will complete a Mathematics Placement Test. The result will guide you to take the Brush up Mathematics course, if you need some extra practice.

Instructions for completing the placement test will be added before the orientation days.
