Student identification, usernames and passwords

Kuvituskuva

Lead paragraph

Haaga-Helia has introduced an electronic identification service using Suomi.fi identification. You will be able to use eIDAS or Finnish Authenticator, if you don't have a Finnish personal identity code or if identification with Suomi.fi e-service using Finnish citizen identification methods is not possible.

Haaga-Helia uses electronic identification in order to verify the identity of our new students. With the username and password you will get access to the Haaga-Helia information systems.

Identification and activating your username

The identification request and your username will be sent to you by email before the start of your studies. The message is either in Finnish or in English, depending on the preferred language selected by the student. In the email you will receive instructions on how to verify your identity and activate your username. The system will guide you through the process and to do the identification using Suomi.fi e-services with your ID card, mobile certificate or online banking codes. If you do not have a Finnish personal identity code, or if identification with Suomi.fi e-service using Finnish citizen identification methods is not possible, you can use the eIDAS or Finnish Authenticator identification services (part of Suomi.fi e-service).

Note! If you are coming from outside the EU countries or if your own country is missing from the eIDAS list, you have to do the identification with the Finnish Authenticator identification service. Make sure to do the identification immediately after receiving the identification request. You must first register a foreigner's identifier (UID) for yourself and then verify your identity using the Finnish Authenticator app. More information and links to further information can be found on this page under "Follow these steps".

After you have successfully completed the identification, you will be directed to accept Haaga-Helia’s Access and Study Material Agreement and after that you can set a strong password for yourself. Your username is now activated and you can log in to the Haaga-Helia information systems in about a day.

Follow these steps:

  1. The identification request and your username will be sent to you by email before the start of your studies. Please check your junk mail and other possible email folders (for example "Promotions" in gmail) if you haven't received the identification request. Follow the link you got by email to log in to the Haaga-Helia identification service. You log in with your username.

  2. After logging in the system will guide you to the identification through the Suomi.fi e-service using your ID card, mobile certificate or online banking codes. If you do not have a Finnish personal identity code, or if identification with Suomi.fi e-service using Finnish citizen identification methods is not possible, you can use the eIDAS or Finnish Authenticator identification services (part of Suomi.fi e-service).

    eIDAS

eIDAS can be used by citizens and residents of EU countries. Choose the "Identification method for foreigners" in the Suomi.fi e-service. Choose your own country to proceed with the identification. If your own country is missing from the list, you can verify your identity using the Finnish Authenticator identification service. Read more below.

    Finnish Authenticator

Finnish Authenticator can be used by foreigners that come from outside the EU countries and anyone without a Finnish citizenship. To activate the Finnish Authenticator identification service you must first register a foreigner's identifier (UID) for yourself and then verify your identity using the Finnish Authenticator app. Download the app on your mobile device with either Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) depending on your mobile device. Read more on how to get a foreigner's identifier and how to identify yourself with the app >>

After you have verified your identity using the app you can then identify yourself in the Suomi.fi e-service using the Finnish Authenticator application. Read more on how to log in to services using the Finnish Authenticator application >>

  3. After you have successfully completed the identification, you will be directed to accept Haaga-Helia’s Access and Study Material Agreement. Read through the agreement and accept it.
  4. Your username is now activated.
  5. After this you can set a strong password for yourself. Check the password requirements. Note! Change your password immediately if you suspect it has fallen into the wrong hands.
  6. You can also see your Haaga-Helia email address in the identification service.
  7. After the activation it takes about a day before you can log in to the Haaga-Helia systems.

Do the identification to activate your username as soon as you get the identification request. Degree students will need their username and password at the latest during the orientation days for new students. If you have problems with the identificating and activating your username, you can try again the next day.

If your personal information or email address is incorrect or if it is not possible for you to do the electronic identification, please contact Study Services. With technical problems concerning the identification service, please contact HelpDesk. Contact information at the end of this page.

Username

The Haaga-Helia username is only valid for the duration of the studies. Note! Even if your student number changes during your studies, your username always stays the same. Haaga-Helia's credentials are not allowed to be used for other services than Haaga-Helia's own or directly study-related services. After your study right has ended your username will be locked and thereafter removed. Please ensure that you have saved all documents (emails etc.) before your study right expires!

Logging in to Haaga-Helia systems

There are two different forms of your username:

Username + password and username[at]myy.haaga-helia.fi + password

Username + password is the correct login to, for example, these services:

  • Student desktop Peppi (there is an overnight delay before Peppi is activated)
  • Wihi
  • HH Finna and Finna.fi services Haka-login
  • Wireless network on campuses
  • All services that uses Haka-login
  • Computers on campuses

Username[at]myy.haaga-helia.fi + password is used for the following services:

  • Haaga-Helia email (Outlook webmail: mymail.haaga-helia.fi)
  • VDI desktop
  • Moodle
  • Office Online and Office 365
  • All services, that uses Microsoft authentication

Please note that the password is the same for all services maintained by Haaga-Helia. Firstname.lastname[at]myy.haaga-helia.fi is not the right login for any services maintained by Haaga-Helia.

Always remember to back up your files and important emails before your study rights expire. Once your email account is removed, it can no longer be accessed. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you do not use your Haaga-Helia email address as a registration address for external services that you intend to use after completing your studies. The email address you provide in Peppi must also be your own personal email address, so that important messages can reach you even if your access to Haaga-Helia’s systems is blocked for unforeseen reasons.
