Haaga-Helia Open University of Applied Sciences is intended for everyone regardless of age and basic education. You can take part in individual courses or you can complete study modules which consist of multiple courses. Haaga-Helia Open University of Applied Sciences studies are for you if you are planning to complete a Bachelor’s degree, want to develop your working skills, are planning a new career, want to improve your basic knowledge or language skills.
At Haaga-Helia Open University of Applied Sciences you cannot complete a degree, but if you accomplish a minimum of 60 credits of the degree programme you are interested in, you can apply for admission as a degree student through the Open Path. Open Path applicants do not have to take part in the entrance examination.
The scope of the courses is expressed in credits (ECTS). One credit point equals 27 hours of studying. Bachelor’s degree is usually 210 credits. For full-time students the recommended amount of credits per academic year is about 60. This can be accomplished also in the Haaga-Helia Open UAS.
If you want to study in Open Bachelor level studies conducted in English, you must demonstrate your adequate English language skills with a language certificate by submitting it to the Student Affairs Office. Check out the list of approved language certificates.
To be eligible for Open Master level studies, the requirements are the completion of an applicable Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least three (2) years of work experience acquired after completion of the Bachelor’s degree.
Note also that Open University studies are part-time studies and visa or residence permit is not granted solely based on these studies, which are not directly leading to a degree. Therefore you are not also eligible for the state’s student financial aid or student discounts.
