What is specialisation?
Specialisation studies are professional competenciences of the degree. Specialisation is the body or major of Master's studies that determines the main content of your studies. At least 20 credits of specialisation studies are required to complete and the topic of your thesis (30 ECTS) must be related to your specialisation.
The specialization studies are selected when accepting the study place, before the studies begin. Depending on the degree program there are different specialisation options, which you will find in the study guide.
What courses can I choose for my free-choice studies as a degree student?
You can complete your studies with free-choice studies that are suitable for you. You can choose free-choice studies from other specialisations, from campusonline or from other Open Universities. These studies must be at master-level and applicable to the degree programme which you are interested in applying for. Only studies at a Finnish University of Applied Sciences will be accepted in Open Path application.
You can complete the courses either in English or in Finnish because the content of the course is the same. Student completing a degree in English can do a maximum of 20 ECTS of studies in finnish (at least 70 ECTS must be completed in English, including the thesis).

You can use the information available on the Master's Studies website to support your studies, even if you are not yet a degree student.
