Graduation in the School of Professional Teacher Education

The goal is that from August 2024, students graduating from Haaga-Helia's School of Professional Teacher Education (teacher education, special needs teacher education and study counsellor education) will receive an electronically signed certificate. Students will no longer receive paper degree certificates upon graduation. Pedagogue students at Metropolia and Turku UAS (taidepedagogit) will still receive paper certificates.

How to apply for graduation:

  1. Your tutor will have the final PDP discussion with you and declare your studies complete. 

  2. Your tutor informs you when you can fill in the application for certificate after the final credits are registered in the student register. You will get the link to the application for certificate from your tutor.

  3. Please check before applying for graduation that your name and contact information in Peppi is correct. In case there is a mistake or a name missing, please contact Study Services (you can update your address information yourself in Peppi).

  4. Please fill in the application for certificate, when all credits are in the student register. You log in to the application with your Haaga-Helia username and password.

  5. Your graduation day will only be confirmed once the application for certificate has been submitted and Haaga-Helia has verified that you have completed the studies required. When your graduation date is confirmed, you can see the new expiry date of your study time (same as your graduation date) in Peppi Student's Desktop.

  6. Graduation is possible within 3 weeks after Study Services receives the application. The graduation date is mainly on a Wednesday (excluding holidays).

SCHEDULES FOR APPLYING FOR GRADUATION

In the autumn semester, the application for certificate opened on 5 August 2024 at 8.00 am and the application closes on 5 December 2024 at 3.00 pm. 

Note! On the application for certificate, you can indicate (in the field "more information") if you wish to graduate before a certain date or during a certain month, for example.

Please note that it is not possible to graduate in July.

In the spring semester, the application for graduation opens in January 2025.

Downloading the electronic certificate

You must download your certificate within 21 days of your graduation date. You will receive instructions on how to download on your graduation day at the earliest. The instructions will be sent to the personal email address you provided on your certificate application (sender: [email protected]).

The email will contain a link to download and save the certificate for yourself. The link is valid for 21 days from the date of graduation. After this, the electronic certificate is available only for an additional fee. The electronic certificate is a PDF document equipped with an electronic signature to confirm the authenticity and integrity of the document. Electronic documents are official only in their digital form and not as paper-printed copies.

We recommend that you save your electronic certificate in more than one electronic storage location (backup). Please note that changing the document will result in the electronic signature no longer being valid.

In case you lose the PDF document, you can order a new electronic certificate from Study Services for a fee.
