International BIP Week for teacher students focused on sustainable development
We organised the first BIP exchange programme under the theme Sustainable Future of Education from 17 to 21 March. The exchange week organised by Professional Teacher Education brought nearly 40 teacher students from Norway, Estonia and the Netherlands to Pasila for a week.
Body
During the week, students, led by their teachers, work on various sustainable development issues and become acquainted with the activities of teacher universities in an international environment.
In addition to Haaga-Helia, 37 students and staff from the University of Tartu in Estonia, OsloMet University in Norway and Fontys UAS and HAN UAS from the Netherlands participated in the exchange programme. Haaga-Helia BIP Week has been organized by lecturers Taina Laivola, Katja Wirenius and Katja Danska.
Intensive study and grouping
Before the intensive exchange, students have already gotten to know each other on virtual days. During the exchange week, each of the participating universities has had its theme day. During haaga-Helia's theme day, guests went to Porvoo for a day, where they visited e.g. In addition to the Porvoo campus, Careeria's operations. The day ended with dinner in Porvoo.
– The event week has been very successful and we are already planning an extension for next year. The aim is to apply for funding for the meeting next year in Oslo, Taina says with satisfaction.
