Application for regranting of study entitlement for students whose study right have expired.

Please check if your study right is still valid:

  • If your study right is still valid but about to expire you should apply for an extension of study time, application in MyNet.
  • If your study right has expired you can apply for regranting of study entitlement from the degree director. Applying for regranting of study entitlement and receiving an approved decision is not automatic.
  • NB a student who has resigned of his/her own accord should apply through the student selection, in the joint application, or through the open path.

Forfeiture of the right to study

Students who have not enrolled and registered in the manner specified in section 29, or who fail to complete their studies within the time period specified in section 30 or within the extended period of time specified in section 30a, as well as students who have not been granted an extension to their studies, forfeit their right to study. Should the student later wish to start or resume his or her studies, he or she must reapply to the university of applied sciences for admission. The application can be made without participation in the student admissions procedure referred to in section 28. (Universities of Applied Sciences Act 932/2014, section 32 (Amendment 325/2015).)

Study right expired due to failure to register as attending or non-attending

A student who has lost his/her study entitlement due to failure to register as attending or non-attending may apply to the degree director to have his/her study entitlement regranted without participating in the student admissions procedure (Act 325/2015, section 32). The application is subject to a handling fee of 50 euros in accordance with the Decree (1440/2014, section 3). (Haaga-Helia degree regulations 11§.)

Study right expired due to not finishing the degree

According to section 32 of the Universities of Applied Sciences Act (932/2014), students who have started their studies on 1 August 2015 or thereafter and who have not finished their degree during the timeframe of their study entitlement or during a discretionary extension of the study entitlement may apply to have their study entitlement regranted without taking part in the student admissions procedure. The decision on regranting the study entitlement is made by the degree director. The student may be asked to provide further clarifications to support the decision on regranting the study entitlement. The study entitlement may be regranted for a maximum of two semesters. A student whose study entitlement has been regranted does not have the right to register as non-attending nor the possibility to apply for a discretionary extension of the study entitlement. The decision on regranting the study entitlement is made by the degree director. (Haaga-Helia degree regulations 24 §.)

NB students whose study right has begun before 1 August 2015 apply through the student selection, in the joint application, or through the open path. If you have completed all studies required for a Bachelor's degree in Haaga-Helia but have not graduated, please find out more about the Open Path flexible separate application.
