Eligibility requirements
When an applicant has completed in Haaga-Helia in discontinued degree studies and after that in Haaga-Helia Open University of Applied Sciences a sum of at least 210 ECTS (Bachelor) / 90 ECTS (Master) consisting of all the studies required for the completion of a Bachelor’s degree, the applicant can apply for a study place in the degree programme through the Open Path flexible separate application process.
Please note: Before filling in the application, the applicant must contact the academic advisor of the degree programme in question and make sure that all studies required for the degree have been completed.
The credits required for eligibility may be no more than ten years old. When determining the ten-year expiry limit of studies, the start date of the semester (1 August or 1 January) during which the applicant's study right as a degree student in Haaga-Helia would begin, will be observed. The studies must already be registered in the student register when the applicant submits the application.
The studies must be registered in the student information system and they must show on the official transcript of records by the time the applicant fills in the application form, by 6 November 2024 at the latest.
An applicant applying in the Open Path flexible separate application process may not have any study right in a University of Applied Sciences in Finland in studies leading to a degree.
Please note that a completed degree does not grant eligibility to apply.
Application
The online Open Path flexible separate application form must be submitted during the application period from 14 August to 6 November 2024, 15.00 (EET). The required documents must be attached to the online application in electronic format (preferably as pdf-files).
One application per applicant is considered. If the applicant sends more than one application, only the first application will be considered.

Required documents
- Official transcripts of study records of the discontinued degree studies and Open UAS studies. If you have completed all of your studies in Haaga-Helia and Haaga-Helia Open UAS, you don’t need to attach your transcripts to the application form.
- Copy of passport or personal identity card (applies to citizens of EU/EEA countries and Switzerland, for exemption from paying the tuition fee).
- Copy of residence permit card / residence card / EU Blue Card / Brexit residence permit (SEU or P SEU) to Finland or British citizen’s proof of registration of right of residence in Finland in accordance with the withdrawal agreement issued by the Finnish Immigration Service (for exemption from paying the tuition fee).
Student selection
The decision on student admission will be made by the degree director. If the study right is granted, the duration of the study right will be two months, counted from the day the applicant confirms the offered study place, and until the end of the current semester at the most.
Cheating during studies in the Open University of Applied Sciences can lead to rejection of the applicant’s application for degree studies.
Results of the student selection
Accepted applicants will receive a notification of the decision of the student selection within three weeks of submitting a complete application (i.e. the online application form and all required documents). Applicants who are not accepted will be notified during the current semester. The notification will be sent by email. If the applicant has not consented to electronic communication, the applicant will be notified with a posted letter. The applicant must confirm the offered study place and enrol for attendance by the given deadline.
The admission may be withdrawn if the applicant has given false information during the application process.
One place per student provision
You may confirm only one study place in higher education leading to a degree during one academic term (1.8.–31.12 or 1.1.–31.7.). The one place per student provision applies to joint application as well as to separate admission processes, such as the Open Path flexible separate application.
Tuition fee
There are tuition fees concerning students who are citizens of countries outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland. More information on Haaga-Helia’s website.

If the applicant’s original study right in Haaga-Helia has started in a degree programme following Haaga-Helia’s old education structure and its curriculum, he/she may graduate following the curriculum which was in force in the degree programme in the old education structure. This exception is in force until 31 July 2026. Please note! Before graduating you need to apply for a study right in the Open Path flexible separate application process. Check the application periods beforehand on this page. The last possible application period in this case is the spring 2026 application period.
