Study time and graduation within the statutory study time

The statutory study time for completing a Bachelor’s degree (210 credits) is 3,5 years, or 7 semesters, however for the degree of Bachelor of Culture and Arts (240 credits) it is 4 years, or 8 semesters. The statutory study time for a Master’s degree is 2 years.

According to the Universities of Applied Sciences Act 30 § (932/2014) full-time students have the right to complete the studies leading to a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a university of applied sciences in a time period of at most one year exceeding the normative duration of the studies.

It is important that you make sure that you have completed all the studies required for the degree in your study plan, and that you are able to complete all your studies within the statutory study time. STUDENT CHECKLIST

  1. At the beginning of the semester, please check and make changes to your PSP, if necessary. If you need guidance, please contact your Guidance Counsellor.
  2. If you have made changes to your PSP, send it for approval by 25 October 2024. 
  3. Spring and summer semester timetables will be published in Lukkarikone (Timetable tool) on 18 November 2024. Make your own study schedule thereafter. You will get more information from Education Services.
  4. Enrol for spring and summer term courses between 25 November 2024 and 2 December 2024. The post enrolment begins on 2 January 2025. You will get more information about enrolment for spring and summer 2025 courses from Education Services. More information about timetables and course enrolment
  5. Changes to the enrolment for attendance/non-attendance for spring semester 2025 must be done in Peppi between 25 November and 2 December 2024.
  6. The compulsory enrolment for attendance/non-attendance for the next academic year is done in Peppi during spring semester 2025. You will get more information from Study Services. More information about enrolment for attendance/non-attendance.

     

NB Kela (The Social Insurance Institution of Finland) usually grants financial aid for students at the beginning of the studies only for the statutory study time. If you need financial aid after this, you need to apply for it separately. You can also get financial aid for the summer time. More information from Kela web pages >>
