Microsoft 365
Haaga-Helia offers all students and personnel Microsoft Office 365 services.
Outlook
Outlook is Microsoft’s email and calendar application. Additional information on Outlook can be found on Microsoft’s website.
The Outlook app comes pre-installed in all students’ VDI-profiles. Logging in to the app is done with the school’s email address, which is in the following format:
- Students enrolled before 2018: [email protected]
- Students enrolled after 2018: [email protected] (username consists of letters and numbers, for example abc12345)
The password for student emails is the same as for Moodle and Peppi.
Logging in to Webmail
Type https://mymail.haaga-helia.fi (direct link to webmail) into your browser address bar.
For students enrolled before 2018
- Type your [email protected] (for example, [email protected]) into the User Name row.
- Type your network password (the same password you use to log in to other services such as Moodle) into the Password row.
After this you will receive a verification request, if you are outside the Haaga-Helia network.
You can receive the verification code via phone call, text message or through the Microsoft Authenticator application.
For students enrolled in the fall of 2018 or after
- Type your [email protected] into the username row. Your username consists of letters and numbers.
- Type your network password (the same password you use to log in to other services such as Moodle) into the Password row.
Teams
Logging in to Teams is done with your school email address and the login format depends on when you began your studies. For example, [email protected] or [email protected].
Teams updates should be checked every now and then. The way to check your Teams for updates is by clicking the three dots in the app’s top-right corner and pressing the “Check for Updates” button. The app will then automatically search for the latest updates and install them.
Before starting a Teams meeting, it’s good to check that the microphone and the video camera are in functional order. You can do this by clicking the icon in the top-right corner and selecting the “Manage account” option. In the Devices tab, you can select the microphone and camera you want from the dropdown menu and check that the devices are working properly.
In Teams, it is possible to work with individuals from other organisations. Please note, that the person invited must also have a Microsoft account. You can search for individuals from the search bar at the top of the application.
SharePoint
The SharePoint app can be used from the computer application or the online application.
You can add files from your computer into the app’s library by pressing the Upload button and selecting the file you want. If you want to open your file in the Office app, first open the file in SharePoint’s online version, click “Edit Document” and then “Edit in <application’s name>”. When you open the file, you can see if other individuals are editing the document at the same time from the top-right corner.
You can manage sharing settings by clicking the three dots (…) next to the file and selecting Share. You can choose who you want to give editing or reading rights to by inputting the person’s name into the name field.
OneDrive
You can save files into the Microsoft cloud environment, so that you can access them from different workstations.
You can log in to OneDrive with your school email address and password. OneDrive can be used in browser or through the computer application. If the application isn’t pre-installed on your computer, you can download it from the internet.
In the browser version of the service, you can add files in the following manner: Upload > Files or Upload > Folder, depending on if you want to add a singular file or an entire folder. In Office365 apps, you can save the file to OneDrive directly:
- File > Save a Copy > OneDrive – Personal
- Input a name for the file and save.
- After this you will see the file in your OneDrive folder.
Web Apps
All Office apps can also be found in online form. You need to log into the service with your school email and password. Through the website you can use online versions of the following applications:
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Outlook
- OneDrive
- OneNote
- SharePoint
- Stream
- Teams
- Sway
- Forms
The applications are directly available for use through the site, so you won’t need to download them on a computer.
