Study time and graduation within the statutory study time

The statutory study time for completing a Bachelor’s degree (210 credits) is 3,5 years, or 7 semesters, however for the degree of Bachelor of Culture and Arts (240 credits) it is 4 years, or 8 semesters. The statutory study time for a Master’s degree is 2 years.

According to the Universities of Applied Sciences Act 30 § (932/2014) full-time students have the right to complete the studies leading to a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a university of applied sciences in a time period of at most one year exceeding the normative duration of the studies.

It is important that you make sure that you have completed all the studies required for the degree in your study plan, and that you are able to complete all your studies within the statutory study time. If you have any questions concerning your studies or you need guidance, please contact your Guidance Counsellor.

STUDENT CHECKLIST

  1. At the beginning of the semester, please check and make changes to your PSP, if necessary. If you need guidance, please contact your Guidance Counsellor.
  2. If you have made changes to your PSP, send it for approval by 15 April 2024. 
  3. The post-enrolment for summer courses started on 2 January 2024.
  4. The compulsory enrolment for attendance/non-attendance for the next academic year is done in Peppi on 2 April – 14 June 2024. You will get more information from Study Services. More information about enrolment for attendance/non-attendance.
  5. Timetables for autumn semester 2024 will be published in Lukkarikone (Timetable tool) on Wednesday 8 May 2024. Make your own study schedule after 8 May 2024. You will get more information from Education Services.
  6. The enrolment time for autumn semester 2024 begins on 15 May 2024 at 8.00 am and ends on 23 May 2024 at 4.00 pm. The post-enrolment begins on 3 June 2024 at 8.00 am.   7. Changes to the enrolment for attendance/non-attendance for spring semester 2025 must be done in Peppi during autumn semester 2024. 

NB Kela (The Social Insurance Institution of Finland) usually grants financial aid for students at the beginning of the studies only for the statutory study time. If you need financial aid after this, you need to apply for it separately. You can also get financial aid for the summer time. More information from Kela web pages >>
