The aim of the HomeOpera-project is to develop a concept for a social XR-service that improves elderly peoples’ opportunities for a high-quality and stimulating life at home, even at a stage when their ability to exercise is limited as a result of ageing or e.g. COVID-19 imposed mobility restrictions.
The project aims to develop an innovation ecosystem of cultural organizations (e.g. opera, theaters, event arenas), XR-companies and health technology companies that accelerates the development of new digital service production and distribution channels, creates business opportunities, and accelerates recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The underlying idea of the HomeOpera-innovation ecosystem is:
- To develop a concept for bringing cultural experiences (e.g. going to the opera) to elderly peoples’ homes through new technologies in a way that enables social interaction and a feeling of community.
- To develop ways to experience multi-sensory digital cultural experiences in a way fosters social interaction and ways to share and discuss the experience with others.
- To explore the types of technologies and interfaces that facilitate experiencing such digital cultural experiences in a social manner.
