The event examined the practical application of generative artificial intelligence in companies and asked what kind of added value we can actually gain from artificial intelligence. Demos and concrete tools were also presented in Pasila, for example, for analyzing document and audio data.

A clear understanding of AI is needed

The event was hosted by William O'Gorman, Innovation Hub Manager at Haaga-Helia. Senior Application Specialist Nikke Syväkuru from Luvata presented companies' perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of generative artificial intelligence, while university lecturer Krista Sorri and information and knowledge management student Nea Tuomikorpi from Tampere University discussed the added value brought by artificial intelligence.

The coffee break provided participants with an opportunity to network and exchange ideas. One point that emerged was that without a clear understanding of how to apply artificial intelligence, its use will remain limited.  The event provided concrete answers to this perspective.

Concrete examples

After the break, Senior Researcher Dmitry Kudryavtsev and Lecturer Jukka Remes from Haaga-Helia presented a toolkit for the easy development and implementation of generative AI solutions. The toolkit will be made publicly available at a later date.

Senior Researcher Umair Ali Khan from Haaga-Helia demonstrated reusable tools for information management tasks. University researcher Lidia Pivovarova and professor Roman Yangarber from the University of Helsinki presented the analysis of structured business documents and audio streams using large language models.

The event was organized by Generative AI-Enhanced Knowledge Management in Business (GAIK) -project.
