Apply for extension of study time (School of Vocational Teacher Education)

The application for an extension of study time has to be done before the study right expires, during the last semester. Study time extension can be granted, as a rule, for one semester at a time, until 31 December or until 31 July.

The studies at the School of Vocational Teacher Education are organised in such a way that the students can complete the studies within a period of time that corresponds to the scope (60 ECTS) of the studies. Studies completed on a part-time basis must be completed in three years (Universities of Applied Sciences Act 932/2014, § 30).

The School of Vocational Teacher Education may, on special grounds, grant an extension to the study time. The decisions are made by the Competence Area Director of teacher education. The student must apply for the extension of study time with an application subject to a handling fee of 50 euros.

The application can be approved on the following grounds

  • There is a justified reason for the delay in studies.
  • The extension time has to be applied during the current study time.
  • The Competence Area Director of teacher education defines the extension of study time. The length of the extension is determined by the remaining studies and a detailed, scheduled and feasible study plan.
  • Study extension can be granted, as a rule, for the period of one semester. After this, they can apply and be granted further extension only if they during the extension have made progress in their studies according to their study plan. Extension of study time is not automatic.
  • Student cannot enrol as absent during the study time extension.

APPLYING

Student whose study right is about to expire can apply for an extension of study time from the Competence Area Director of teacher education with the application below. According to the Government Decree (1440/2014), a handling fee of 50 euros is applicable. NB your application will not be processed if you haven't paid the handling fee. Check your maximum duration of studies before applying for the extension. The handling fee for the extension application is non-refundable.

APPLICATION PERIOD

The application form for an extension of the study time for the spring semester will open on the first weekday of October and it has to be submitted in the autumn on 3 November at the latest. The applications are processed in four weeks.

The application form for an extension of the study time for the autumn semester will open on the first weekday of March and it has to be submitted in the spring on 10 May at the latest. The student will be informed about the decision on 24 May at the latest.

An applicant may apply to the Collegiate body of the UAS in writing for rectification of a decision concerning admission within 14 days of receiving the notification of the decision. (Universities of Applied Sciences Act 932/2014)
