Special needs support
Haaga-Helia incoming exchange students have the right to receive individual study arrangements for medical reasons. Some examples could be if you have dyslexia, ADHD, social anxiety disorder or any other learning difficulties. Haaga-Helia's special needs teachers support you with studying, learning and achieving your academic goals by granting you individual arrangements during your studies.
Apply for individual study arrangements
If you need special arrangements, the first step is to book a meeting with the special needs teacher Nina Koivisto in order to create an individual study and learning plan for you. The special needs teacher can also create a recommendation letter which describes the support that you are entitled to during your studies. In general, you are entitled to the same arrangements as in your home university. You can then share this letter with the different teachers you will have in Haaga-Helia.
Individual arrangements are intended to help you reach the learning objectives of the courses and the degree you are studying for. The support you can get is personalised for you and your needs. These arrangements should not be seen as a reason to stop aiming for the set learning outcomes. Instead, they are a way of supporting you achieving your learning objectives.
To be granted individual arrangements, you must have a statement of your condition signed by a doctor, psychologist or any other expert.
Below you can find more information and examples on the individual arrangements and support available for you during your studies at Haaga-Helia. If you have questions about individual arrangements, please contact the special needs teacher directly [email protected]
Please note that this support is free of charge for students studying with us.
