International students waiting for residence permit

To join spring semester 2024 on-campus studies, you are required to be present at Haaga-Helia Campus on January 8th 2024 when orientation days begin.  The final deadline for starting on-campus studies is January 29th 2024. After this, the next possibility to join classroom lessons is in summer/autumn 2024. 

If you are still waiting for your student residence permit application’s decision after January 29th 2024, you will start your studies online. Online studies will start by the end of January. You will receive further information about our comprehensive online courses in January 2024 via email.

Autumn semester 2024

• If you don’t receive a residence permit by September 2nd 2024, you can choose to resign from your studies and apply for a tuition fee refund. By doing this, you will lose your study right and we will inform Finnish Immigration Services about your decision. A sum of EUR 1,500 will be deducted from your spring semester 2024 tuition fee when processing the refund. You have to pay the tuition fee for autumn semester 2024 even if you are still waiting for your residence permit. 
• In case you receive a negative decision on your residence permit application, you can choose either to appeal for the Immigration Services decision or apply for a tuition fee refund. If you decide to apply for a tuition fee refund, you will lose your study right. A sum of EUR 1,500 will be deducted from your spring semester 2024 tuition fee when processing the refund. Please note that you are responsible for any additional service fees charged by the bank.

To join the spring 2024 semester on-campus studies, we expect you to be at the Pasila campus on Thursday 11th January 2024 when we organise the orientation evening for specialisations as well as provide study guidance and IT support to begin your Master studies. 

If you do not receive your student residence permit in time to join the orientation on 11th January, you need to study the materials and connect with your specialisation independently.

We recommend you to enrol for contact courses after you have received your residence permit and moved to Finland. Before that, you can enrol for virtual and online courses, for which we offer a wide selection to choose from.

Please note that for students in online Degree Programmes (Sustainable Aviation Business and Strategising in Organisations), there is no requirement to come to the campus and all parts of orientation are held online.
