Lead paragraph

Please notice that you are required to have your own laptop during your studies. At the beginning of your studies, you can use almost any computer that is not older than about two years.

If you intend to acquire a new device, buy one which is pleasant to use (a proper keyboard and display, at least 4 GB of memory and a decent battery). The operating system can be almost anything, but Windows 10 (not Win RT) is preferred. MacOS X 10.7 or newer or xUbuntu Linux 16 LTS are also suitable, but we are able to provide only limited IT support for these systems.

Business Information Technology students: even though the IT related courses of the programme are still mainly conducted in our computer classrooms, in the future, the students should be prepared to use their own devices. If you are purchasing a new device, you should buy one that is pleasant to work with having a proper keyboard and display, at least 8 GB of memory and a CPU powerful enough.

Business Service Solutions and Languages students: You need a Windows computer, headphones and a camera.

Haaga-Helia's ICT services are delivered to the students' own devices mainly through our virtual desktop environment (VDI), which you can use also outside the campuses. It requires only the Citrix Receiver software ( to be installed on your device. Some of the services are used with a browser. Therefore, we do not have specific hardware requirements.

Haaga-Helia’s IT Services does not install anything in the students' computers but will provide customer support as far as possible.
