Before the game started, Jere Peiponen, a lecturer in financial management at Haaga-Helia, told Tuokko's financial management team about the creation of the escape room and its various purposes. The escape room was designed and built by Haaga-Helia's financial management teachers together with Haaga-Helia's partner K-Group, and the key aim of the process was to inspire students to study financial management through innovative learning.

The Financial Management Escape Room provides students with an engaging learning environment, and brings variety to students' course selection and execution methods.

Students use the escape room as part of their first courses in financial management. The games are played as part of the coursework during teaching weeks 4-7 of the period, depending on the stage students are at in terms of the topics they are studying and need to cover in the game.

Players solve various tasks using hints, clues and reasoning skills

The story and plot of the escape room game is set in a hardware store office, where the information needed to complete the task is hidden. The escape room game and financial management come together, when in order to get out of the room, players have to solve the codes of the numerical locks by solving financial management calculations, in particular the calculation of profit margins.

Players have 45 minutes to solve the tasks and get the right door codes to get out of the room.

Solving the game requires problem-solving, creativity, listening and cooperation skills, which are also necessary in working life. The escape room allows students and other visiting players to practice these skills together as a team.

Business guests who are not familiar with the calculations of profit margins can choose a game experience package, which includes a pre-game review of the profit margin information needed to solve the game. The escape room game provides an opportunity to practice close problem-solving and teamwork, and the game and training sessions can also be used to develop professional skills.
