This year, the Haaga-Helia community voted for Content Creator, Entrepreneur, Travel Influencer of the Year 2024 Jasmin Ngo as the Alum of the Year. Voting was open to students, alumni and current and retired staff of Haaga-Helia.
Also nominated in the final were Head of AI and Innovations, PhD researcher Jukka Niittymaa and Managing Director, Entrepreneur and Community Consultant Doris Tuohimaa.
Jasmin was nominated for The Alum of the Year for her social impact, among other things.
– Jasmin is a positive role model for others and makes a difference in society, either locally or globally. She just won the Travel Influencer of the Year award at the Tubecon Gala. She actively talks about Haaga-Helia in a positive light on social media, says the Haaga-Helian who nominated Jasmin.
Active influencer in tourism
Jasmin was surprised by winning the Alum of the Year vote at a video shoot. Presenting the award to Jasmin, President Teemu Kokko said that Finland needs positive role models like Jasmin, especially in the tourism sector.
Jasmin has graduated from the Haaga-Helia Tourism Management program in 2020. Jasmin was nominated for The Alum of the Year for her social impact, among other things.

Dreams and networking
Jasmin has gained a good foundation for what she does now from Haaga-Helia and so, has mentioned her University of Applied Sciences on many occasions. She also encourages everyone else to find their own path and make their dreams come true.
– For me, the most important thing is to live my own life without caring about society's or anyone else's expectations. But the most important lesson I remember getting from Haaga-Helia was to remember to network. I can subscribe to that, says Jasmin.
She also sends her best wishes to those who voted for her.
Showcasing alumni's expertise
The Alum of the Year award is given to one Haaga-Helia alum every year. Criteria for selection include impact on society, commitment to higher education and success in the field.
– We want to showcase the wide range of alumni's expertise through the Alum of the Year Award. We have a tremendous number of interesting and talented professionals in their fields as alumni, says Elina El Amrani, Alumni Relations Specialist.
There are many different types of collaboration with the Alum of the Year and the finalists. They come to speak at career and professional events and encourage new alumni graduates at graduation ceremonies with their speeches.
