Record number of credits completed at Haaga-Helia Open University of Applied Sciences
Haaga-Helia's Open University of Applied Sciences struck record highs last year. With a new record, it became the third-largest Open University of Applied Sciences in Finland in terms of the number of credits completed.
The popularity of the Haaga-Helia Open University of Applied Sciences continues to grow. Last year, a total of 46,950 credits were completed, which is up to 66% more than in 2020.
At the same time, also the number of students studying at the Open University of Applied Sciences increased by 574 students or about 20 percent.
According to Anu Moisio, the Director of Competence at Haaga-Helia, the studying trend has been growing exponentially for several years now.
— The constant change in working life demands that people keep their skills up to date. In addition, many of our students are engaged in lifelong learning or aiming for a degree, she says.
Last year, the most popular studies were so-called path studies, which give people an opportunity to study degree studies before actually applying to a degree program.
It's an alternative way, in which one can get into a degree program without taking an entrance examination.
At Haaga-Helia Open University of Applied Sciences, everyone can complete university studies regardless of their background or education. However, successful studying requires good learning skills and adequate proficiency in Finnish and/or English.
