Haaga-Helia's students got two scholarships from the Media Industry Research Foundation of Finland

This year, journalism students who graduated from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences got both scholarships awarded by the Media Industry Research Foundation of Finland for the theses of Universities of Applied Sciences.

This year, journalism students who graduated from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences won both scholarships awarded by the Media Industry Research Foundation of Finland for the theses of Universities of Applied Sciences.

The first scholarship went to Kata-Riina Heinonen-Tricarico and Katriina Lundelin, whose thesis Towards inclusive journalism – Qualitative interview research was awarded a scholarship worth 1,100 euros. The work was supervised by lecturer Pekka Huolman.

The second scholarship, worth 750 euros, was awarded to Eleanora Alariesto for her work Topic modeling as a tool for journalism: method and possibilities. Alariesto's thesis was supervised by lecturer Kaarina Järventaus.

The annual scholarships of the Media Industry Research Foundation of Finland, which promotes the competitiveness of printed and electronic and content-oriented digital media, are distributed in three categories: master's theses, bachelor's theses, and theses of universities of applied sciences (including YAMK theses).

A total of seven scholarships were granted to different theses.

The blog texts of the theses that were awarded in the scholarship competition and that made it to the next stage will be published on the foundation's website during the coming fall.
