Haaga-Helia's application numbers rocketed by 66 percent in the spring 2022 joint application

The spring 2022 joint application period for higher education ended on 19 January. Haaga-Helia’s degree programmes taught in English proved their success once again during the application round.

Altogether 4 930 applicants applied to Haaga-Helia, which means an increase of 66% compared to last year (in 2021: 2 926).

During this application round, applicants were able to choose among six Haaga-Helia’s Bachelor’s degree programmes taught in English. The intake in this application round is 245 students.

Similarly to last year, the BBA programmes attracted the most applicants. The most popular programme was Business Information Technology with 1 610 applicants. Compared to last year, nearly 1 000 more applicants applied for this degree programme, which means an increase of 163 percent.

The other degree programmes with most applicants were International Business full-time studies (1 295 applicants) and Hospitality and Tourism Experience Management (998).

International UAS Exam – new joint entrance exam

International UAS Exam is a new joint digital entrance exam used for student selection to degree programmes in English in Finnish universities of applies sciences. The entrance exam will be organised for the first time in the spring 2022 first joint application round.

The International UAS Exam will be used in all Haaga-Helia’s Bachelor’s degree programmes conducted in English, except the degree programme in Sports Coaching and Management and International Business blended learning.

International UAS Exam consists of two phases. The first phase includes a written examination that will be organised on 9 February 2022. The second phase group interviews will be organised between 2–16 March 2022. All eligible applicants who have passed the written exam will be invited to the group interview.

From the applicant’s perspective, the process is simpler: with a single exam, the applicant may apply to several degree programmes available for application in many study fields. An online exam may be taken anywhere in the world, and the applicant does not have to travel to Finland for the exam.
