Haaga-Helia offers a wide range of studies for students using a study voucher
The study voucher provides young people with the opportunity to explore higher education studies free of charge. At Haaga-Helia, students can choose from introductory studies, more extensive study modules, flexible study formats and guidance to support their choices.
Body
The government’s planned study voucher pilot will start in August 2026. The aim of the pilot is to offer vouchers worth 30 ECTS credits to young people who have completed upper secondary education but were left without a study place in a higher education institution. Haaga-Helia is prepared to offer them clear pathways for exploring and starting higher education studies.
With the study voucher, students may complete individual study units at Haaga-Helia or choose path studies consisting mainly of common study units across all degree programmes. In this way, a student can complete a 30-credit study module even if they have not yet made a final choice between a Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Business Administration (IT), Bachelor of Sports Studies or Bachelor of Culture and Arts.
For those who wish to prepare for applying to a degree programme, path studies offer a rapid route forward. Path studies completed with the study voucher can be fully accredited towards a degree, enabling faster completion of studies. After completing a total of 45 ECTS credits of path studies, the student may apply for degree studies through the Open Path.
If a student is still unsure about higher education studies, the study voucher can be used to try smaller modules of 1–5 ECTS credits. These may consist of basic competences included in degree programmes or offer an introduction to different fields, future career roles or skills needed in higher education studies. In addition, study counselling and guidance are available to support students in their choices.
President Susanna Niinistö-Sivuranta emphasises that the study voucher pilot is an excellent match for Haaga-Helia’s approach to offering diverse and flexibly delivered studies.
– Haaga-Helia’s strengths include a wide and high-quality offering, flexible study formats and student-oriented guidance. A student may explore different fields at their own pace or already move towards a degree of their choice. The study voucher lowers the threshold for trying higher education studies and helps young people gain confidence in their decisions – we want to support them in making these choices.
The study voucher can give many young people their first step towards higher education. Haaga-Helia warmly welcomes all study voucher students to explore, get inspired and find their own path!
