Haaga-Helia to launch change negotiations on the impacts of campus changes in March
The aim of the change negotiations is to avoid staff reductions by reorganising and renewing work tasks. The change negotiations will not affect teaching.
Body
In 2024, Haaga-Helia’s Board approved a stabilisation programme that includes several measures to stabilise operations and finances. One of these measures concerns campus solutions and the reorganisation of work tasks due to the campus changes. Haaga-Helia will give up the Haaga campus in summer 2026 and the Malmi campus in 2027. The profile of the Porvoo campus will be renewed towards the 2030s.
No impact on teaching
The ongoing change negotiations concern only Haaga-Helia staff, and as a result of the campus changes, the workplace of about one hundred employees will be relocated to Pasila. Once the campus changes have been implemented gradually in 2026–2027, teaching for approximately 1,400 students will have moved to Pasila. For staff, the negotiations aim to identify different ways to reorganise work tasks to ensure that operations continue as smoothly as possible.
– Change always requires adaptation when facing something new, which is why it raises many questions and emotions. Through these negotiations, we aim to promote openness and increase interaction. The goal is to build shared understanding of the change and to find solutions that support our common objectives. The primary aim of the negotiations is to reorganise any overlapping work tasks, not to reduce staff, says Susanna Niinistö-Sivuranta, President and CEO.
The employer’s negotiation proposal under the Act on Co-operation within Undertakings was submitted on 4 March 2026, and the negotiations are intended to take place during March–April.
