President Susanna Niinistö-Sivuranta manages the overall operations of Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. She is responsible for the organisation's finances and decides on matters concerning the internal administration of the university of applied sciences, unless otherwise stipulated by law, decree, or administrative regulations.
Niinistö-Sivuranta has worked in the higher education sector in various management and expert positions for over twenty years. In her previous position, she worked as the CEO of Sivista and, prior to that, as the Chief Development Officer at the University of Helsinki and Vice President at Laurea University of Applied Sciences.
She has extensive experience in national and international research and development projects as well as in quality assessment in the education sector. She has long-term experience of board work in various companies and organisations.
Niinistö-Sivuranta's publications focus on strategic management in higher education, the development of teaching, and pedagogical leadership. Niinistö-Sivuranta holds a Master of Philosophy degree from the University of Helsinki and a doctorate in teacher education from the University of Tampere.
As a leader and supervisor, she emphasises the importance of community spirit and the powerful role of enthusiasm in strengthening expertise.
