Extensive business network joins forces – turning AI into a competitive advantage for Finnish companies
In the AI Gamechanger project coordinated by Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, researchers are studying and developing models that enable Finnish SMEs and mittelstand companies to leverage artificial intelligence in their core operations.
Body
The project’s expected outcomes are anticipated to have a significant impact on strengthening companies’ competitiveness and helping them achieve sustainable competitive advantage.
As AI development accelerates, it is no longer sufficient to view artificial intelligence merely as a tool. Companies have recognized the need to transform work and processes in ways that not only preserve competitiveness but also strengthen it into a genuine competitive advantage.
– Many companies still see AI as a collection of individual tools, even though the greatest transformation occurs only when AI becomes an integral part of core business processes. AI challenges organizations to rethink how work is done, how customer value is created, and what capabilities will be required in the future. This is why research and development collaboration is particularly important – it helps companies build solutions based on researched knowledge and practical experience, rather than solely on technological possibilities, says Maija Kiljunen, COO of MyHub Health, one of the companies participating in the AI Gamechanger consortium.
AI Gamechanger – Empowering Finnish companies to become AI leaders through research collaboration is a Business Finland-funded research and development project that combines international research knowledge with AI experimentation in participating companies. The project is also developing an operational framework that helps companies systematically integrate AI into their core business functions. In addition, a handbook and the AI Gamechanger digital tool will be created to support strategic transformation.
AI reshapes the structure of work – solutions emerge through skills and new ways of working
AI Gamechanger examines what kind of support companies need, how scaling AI adoption impacts business processes, organizational structures, and competency requirements, and what milestones and metrics are required to ensure controlled and scalable progress.
The research focuses on two areas: sales and marketing functions, and leadership and strategic management.
– We are living in a time when AI is increasingly dividing companies into those that have already discovered its value and those that are still searching for direction. Today, AI is already a key factor in the ability of businesses and employees to succeed. The next decisive step is redesigning critical work and business processes with AI in ways that enable companies to outperform their competitors – x and give customers a reason to choose them, says Anna Lahtinen, Project Manager for AI Gamechanger and Senior Researcher at Haaga-Helia.
