Food tourism is a form of travel where the main attractions are activities and experiences related to local food and beverages. The aim of food tourism is to offer travelers an opportunity to explore the destination's unique strengths, phenomena, culture, traditions, and history through culinary experiences.

The goal of Finland's Food Tourism Strategy for 2024–2028 is to lead Finnish food tourism toward a sustainable and inspiring future built on strong networks. The aim is to provide customers with unforgettable and meticulously refined culinary experiences that reflect our unique food culture. Indirectly, the strategy seeks to enhance Finland's reputation as a food tourism destination.

The strategy has been created as a tool for entrepreneurs, developers, enablers, and future innovators who want to promote Finnish food tourism. It outlines the directions for developing food tourism, serves as a knowledge base for development efforts, and acts as a foundation for product development ideas.

The strategy is the result of collaboration with numerous food tourism stakeholders. To update the strategy, 16 workshops were held, a current state analysis was conducted, research in the field was monitored, students were involved, experts were interviewed, and entrepreneurs were consulted. National perspectives have been condensed into seven thematic action areas: sustainable business, data-driven management, product development, network-based activities, sales and accessibility, communication and marketing, and refining regional food tourism identities. Each action area includes a list of necessary measures to help achieve the set goals.
