Student testimonial

Mimmi Heinilä is from the small town of Isokyrö. Before starting her studies at Haaga-Helia, she graduated from Kyrönmaa High School.

– I’ve always been interested in airplanes and business.

After high school, she worked as a tour guide in Greece for the summer to see if the industry was the right fit for her. In the end, Heinilä chose to study Aviation Business at Haaga-Helia.

A Balanced Education with Many Opportunities

Heinilä describes her experience at Haaga-Helia as amazing. The studies have mostly been contact teaching, with some virtual courses included.

– The studies have been very balanced. In addition to independent work, we’ve done many group projects. Studying with friends makes it even more enjoyable, she says.

During her studies, Heinilä has been surprised by the many opportunities available.

– I’ve helped organize seminars, attended events, worked at the Nordic Business Forum, and even visited Brussels, she lists.

Supportive Atmosphere and Teacher Guidance

Heinilä remembers feeling nervous at the start of her studies, but those feelings quickly disappeared.

– I was worried about adjusting to a larger school, having been used to the warm atmosphere of a small high school. But I quickly realized my fears were unnecessary. Haaga-Helia’s teachers are kind and always ready to help with any problems. I’ve always received support, whether it’s with course overlaps or other challenges, she praises.

Preparing for the Future and Building Networks

Heinilä believes her studies will give her a solid foundation for her career.

– Haaga-Helia offers many opportunities to grow your network, both within the school and beyond. I’ve already expanded my knowledge by taking part in several events and seminars through Haaga-Helia, she says.

Advice for Future Students

Heinilä has some advice for future students:

– Take advantage of the opportunities you’re given! Haaga-Helia has strong connections, and many of your dreams can come true during your studies. While it’s nice to stick with your friends, attending events on your own can be an empowering experience that helps you build new connections. Make the most of your studies and talk to your teachers about your goals. They might have valuable advice for you, Heinilä concludes.
