PhD Tanja Vesala-Varttala works as Principal Lecturer in Marketing and Communication at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki. Her main research interests include international branding, digital storytelling, education for sustainable development ESD, and collaborative and autonomous learning.

Tanja is a founding member of Haaga-Helia marketing students’ Creative Agency Krea, a collaborative learning environment and creative hub offering branding and media planning services to client companies. Krea provides students, teachers, companies, and international networks of partner universities with opportunities for multidisciplinary co-creation, research, innovation, and life-long learning.

At Haaga-Helia, Tanja works as researcher, RDI project manager, stakeholder coordinator, teacher, and thesis supervisor. Prior to joining Haaga-Helia, she worked as international marketing and communications manager at an investment bank and as full-time researcher and part-time teacher in narrative theory at Tampere University.
