Haaga-Helia’s Ulysseus European University team got two new employees this week when Mirjam Gamrasni joined the project as International Project Officer and Andres Archila as AI Innovation HUB Officer. The members of the project team met on December 1 on the Pasila campus. Kitte Marttinen is Project Director in the Haaga-Helia team and Ari Alamäki is the AI Innovation HUB Coordinator.

The new Ulysseus European University

The three-year Ulysseus European University project is funded by the European Union and aims to enhance the quality, cooperation, digitalisation and attractiveness of European higher education, as well as facilitate the mobility of students and staff. Moreover, the aim is to develop joint degrees and research projects as well as create six new Innovation HUBs. In addition to Haaga-Helia, there are five other members: University of Cote d'Azur (France), University of Genoa (Italy), Management Center Innsbruck (Austria), Technical University of Kosice (Slovakia) and University of Seville (Spain), who is coordinating the alliance.

- The project is unique in the history of Europe, you seldom get a possibility to take part in establishing a university. Our team in Haaga-Helia is very international and multilingual, we are fluent in five of the seven official languages of Ulysseus; English, French, Spanish, Italian and Finnish, says Mirjam Gamrasni.

Haaga-Helia's areas of responsibility are building up competences for the future and creating an artificial intelligence HUB.

- Creating and implemeting the AI Innovation HUB is an exciting task by itself, as well as collaborating with the other Innovation HUBs of this alliance. My expectations include the synergy between the HUBs and interesting collaboration projects and AI cases with companies, Andres Archila says.
