Archipelago’s Beat – Boost for the Archipelago Tourism of Eastern Uusimaa

The main objective of the project Archipelago’s Beat – Boost for the Archipelago Tourism of Eastern Uusimaa (Saariston syke) is to improve the vitality and innovation capacity of SMEs in the archipelago tourism sector in Eastern Uusimaa.

The project has four sub objectives:

  1. Developing new tourism products and services for SMEs of island tourism.
  2. Creating a new development network of tourism operators in the region.
  3. Involving residents and customers to support tourism product development.
  4. Raising awareness of the Eastern Uusimaa archipelago as a tourist destination.

The main target groups of the project are SMEs and micro-entrepreneurs in the tourism sector in the Eastern Uusimaa archipelago region (Sipoo, Porvoo, Lovisa), as well as regional tourism organisations, development companies and municipalities in the region. Companies are tourism and hospitality companies operating in the Eastern Uusimaa archipelago or companies whose operations take place wholly or partly in the archipelago.

As a result of the project's activities:

  • New products and services for island tourism will be created in cooperation with entrepreneurs and tourism organizations in the Eastern Uusimaa archipelago, and their pilots are a key part of the added value generated by the project.
  • A network of island tourism developers from Sipoo to Loviisa is created to support the activities and development of tourism SMEs in the region.
  • The customer survey and new customer profiles will help businesses to better understand the needs and wishes of potential tourists as a basis for product development.
  • New information on the views and wishes of the region's residents and leisure residents regarding the development of island tourism in Eastern Uusimaa is generated.
  • Local residents will be empowered to be producers, even entrepreneurs, of new tourist experiences for the archipelago, and to use a smart digital distribution channel suitable for this purpose.
  • The project's multi-faceted communication will raise the profile of tourism in the archipelago of Eastern Uusimaa and increase awareness of tourism entrepreneurs and their services in the region.
  • A new replicable archipelago tourism event concept 'Archipelago Tourism Days' for SMEs, residents and tourists is created in Sipoo, Loviisa and Porvoo regions.
