Lead paragraph

On this page, you can find information about hygiene and alcohol passports. Haaga-Helia does not offer courses for obtaining a hygiene or alcohol passport.

Hygiene passport

A hygiene passport is a certificate that demonstrates a person's knowledge of food hygiene skills, showing that they know how to handle and store food safely. You need a hygiene passport if you work in a food establishment and/or handle unpackaged, perishable food. Food establishments include, e.g., cafes, restaurants, food stores, commercial kitchens, bakeries, and food factories.

The hospitality management degree programmes provide students with a broad knowledge of food hygiene, but do not replace the hygiene passport. The passport is obtained by completing a separate hygiene passport test.

You can find your nearest test location and instructions for booking a test here: https://hygienepassport.fi/

Alcohol passport

An alcohol passport is an official certificate that proves that a person is familiar with alcohol legislation. You need an alcohol passport if you work in a position where you serve alcohol.

The hospitality management degree programmes provide students with a broad knowledge of serving alcohol, but do not replace the alcohol passport. The passport is obtained by completing a separate alcohol passport test.
