In an open online dialoque from September to October, we explored views on Haaga-Helia's current and dream state in 2030, prioritised future goals and brainstormed how to make them a reality. We also asked what we should keep or change in our activities and what makes us different.

In total, 1806 people participated, with students and alumni being the largest groups of respondents. The survey was also sent to Haaga-Helia's staff, stakeholders, partners and international partner universities, among others.

President Teemu Kokko thanks everyone for their active participation:

– I would like to thank everyone who participated in the online survey. The development of Haaga-Helia's strategy is a joint project and therefore it is important that all stakeholders are involved. I am particularly glad that the issue was perceived as our own, as we are dealing with a very important issue.

In the current Haaga-Helia, the emphasis is on working and learning together

When asked about the current state of Haaga-Helia, the most prominent themes in the results were working and learning together and community.

Students were more likely than other respondents to mention the requirements of digitalisation and presence, and less likely to mention internationalisation. Alumni were the most vocal about working together, learning and networking.

Haaga-Helia of dreams for 2030 is student-centred and renewing

The 2030 dream space was strongly associated with student-centredness, connections to working life, high quality of teaching and continuous renewal and innovation. The importance of these themes was rated highly, with leadership, continuous professional development, learning experience and work-life orientation at the top of the list.

For students, the most important and most commented upon theme was good learning experience and the diversity of issues involved. For alumni, the wide range of opportunities for work-life contacts was highlighted as a key future goal.

Working towards the 2026–2030 strategy

The results of the strategy online brainstorming dialoque focus on the ideas of students and alumni. The responses also provided a wealth of insights into the building blocks that respondents believe will help us achieve the best Haaga-Helia in 2030.

The solutions proposed included ecosystem-based activities, strengthening partnerships and co-creation, and continuous development of student-centredness by listening to students. They also proposed a diverse and varied curriculum, the development of activities through RDI and the exploitation of new digital and technological opportunities.

These expectations will be responded to at the end of the year, when the results of the web consultation will be further elaborated among staff.

Smartwatches were drawn among all participants and the winners have been informed personally.
