Haaga-Helia partner company SpeedZone (Zone Media Oy) is a provider of web hosting and domain services in Finland and worldwide. True to its name, SpeedZone launched its partnership with Haaga-Helia in an agile manner, employing two interns from Haaga-Helia within a year, both of whom completed their bachelor’s theses commissioned by SpeedZone.

Kasperi Kuusisto, Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Information Technology who worked on his thesis research during spring 2026, shared his experiences of the internship and thesis process:

– My original idea was to conduct research on how much of the user experience is formed solely through the user interface. When SpeedZone started collaborating with Haaga-Helia and I joined them as an intern, we began discussing whether they could support my thesis project, says Kuusisto.

– SpeedZone supported me by providing data from their previous user testing studies, making their websites available for testing purposes, and implementing modifications whose performance could then be tested in practice.

Benefits of a thesis project for a company

Thesis projects are one of the many ways partner companies can make an impact at the student interface. Rauno Kais, Regional Manager at SpeedZone, explains the benefits of thesis collaboration from the company’s perspective.

– The benefit for us is that a student’s fresh perspective and lack of preconceptions can bring new ideas and ways of thinking to our services. For the student, the benefit is the opportunity to work on a real project and gain practical experience that cannot be acquired solely in a classroom setting, says Kais.

Active partnership pays off

Kais and the entire SpeedZone team have been active in their partnership with Haaga-Helia, participating in recruitment and networking events such as Sales Morning, Shape Your Future (Tuunaa tulevaisuutesi) and Duuniin.net, where the company has gained unique opportunities to increase brand awareness and strengthen its employer image among students.

At the same time, the company has participated in study modules, organized events together with Haaga-Helia, and provided Business Information Technology students with a unique opportunity to use SpeedZone’s web hosting and domain services free of charge.

– Haaga-Helia teaches exactly what we deal with in our everyday business: hosting and website development. That is why the collaboration feels so natural, says Kais.

Haaga-Helia recognized SpeedZone’s active engagement with the Partner of the Year 2025 award. Together with SpeedZone, Maija-Kerttu “Maikku” Sarvas, the Partner Manager responsible for the collaboration, was awarded Partner Manager of the Year 2025.

SpeedZone is an excellent example of how successful collaboration can create genuine value for businesses, students and the entire higher education community.
