International Staff Week returned successfully back to campus
Haaga-Helia’s International Staff Week was organised this year from 4 to 6 May. After the pandemic, we were delighted to meet colleagues from Haaga-Helia’s international partner institutions on site in Helsinki and Vierumäki.

This year we had 40 participants from 33 different partner universities. During the three days, participants had great opportunities for networking with colleagues, learn more about Haaga-Helia and Finnish culture and education, and about the theme of the event “Wellbeing in a Higher Education Community”.
Guests gave the organisers excellent feedback, specially the multi-sided and interesting programme and welcoming atmosphere received praise.
Versatile programme presented Haaga-Helia and Finland from different viewpoints
Staff Week started on Wednesday with Haaga-Helia President Minna Hiillos’ welcoming words. Head of International Relations, Katri Salmi, presented Haaga-Helia’s international activities and participants had time to network with each other over lunch. Guided Helsinki city tour, lecture about Finnish culture and welcome dinner showed many sides of Finnish culture to the participants.
During the second day, participants met their colleagues from International Services, Admission and Study Services, Student Wellbeing Services, Marketing, Communication and Alumni Services, and Human Resources in workshops to get new ideas for their work, exchange best practices and develop their competences.
The last day was reserved for relaxation and wellbeing. Staff Week guests visited Vierumäki campus, where they experienced how Finns draw wellness from the nature. Guests took part in a wellbeing-themed workshop, practiced yoga and had the chance to enjoy Finnish sauna and dip into the cold lake.
International Staff Week is an annual event targeted to non-academic staff of Haaga-Helia’s partner institutions. The event will be organised next time in spring 2023.
