The protest will take place at the Pasila campus lobby area (tapahtumatori), but it will be carried out in such a way that access to the campus will not be disrupted.

- With this peaceful takeover of university premises, we want to draw attention to the students' distress, which the government is increasing by cutting back on housing subsidies, for example, says Simo Halme, one of the students involved in organising the protest.

President Minna Hiillos understands the students' concerns.

- We understand very well the students' concerns about their income and well-being during their studies. The well-being of students is a very important issue for the whole university community. We hope that in the future students will be able to focus on their studies without worrying about how to cope in everyday life, says Minna Hiillos.

Campus takeovers are currently taking place in many higher education institutions around Finland.
