Higher education students must pay the health care fee on their own initiative to Kela for both the spring and autumn semesters. Compared to 2022, the fee will increase by 2 euros to improve the availability of services.

The late payment fee and the charge for an unattended appointment will remain unchanged. Kela charges 5 euros as a late payment fee if the student does not pay their healthcare fee on time. The Finnish Student Health Care Service (FSHS) charges a sum of 40 euros for appointments in which the student has not cancelled, moved the appointment or arrived on time to the appointment. The charge will not be applied if there is an acceptable reason for not showing up at the appointment.
