Haaga-Helia organises two graduation ceremonies every year. In 2024, nearly 2 200 students graduated from Haaga-Helia, joining the alumni community of over 46 000 members.

Celebration of great achievements and new beginnings

Of the nearly 900 students who graduated in the autumn semester, 728 had completed a bachelor's degree and 147 a master's degree. The ceremony included a speech by President Teemu Kokko and a greeting from alumna, Doris Tuohimaa, Executive Director of the PuskaPromotion cooperative.

In her speech, Tuohimaa highlighted how she was able to use her strengths in Haaga-Helia's business programme and at the same time learn new competences and grow as an expert in a supportive environment.

The graduating students also shared the alumna's views. International Business graduate Leia Hallamäki was particularly pleased with the support she had during her studies.

– I liked the way my study path was well designed, it helped me to progress in my studies. My guidance counsellor always gave me advice and support when I needed it, Leia says. Leia's work placement with Haaga-Helia's sales and partnership team ended in December and currently the marketing graduate is looking for new opportunities.

Fangda Chen, a graduate in tourism and hospitality management, was proud to have completed his studies as planned. Fangda was happy with his career choice and to have chosen Haaga-Helia. Overall his studies went very well, but one of the most memorable experiences was the recent Swedish language course, which he only passed on his fourth attempt.

– But now I have completed that as well and can proudly celebrate my graduation today. I am especially happy that my mother was able to join the celebrations with me, said Fangda, who also worked as a student ambassador for Haaga-Helia.

Awards for distinguished achievements

During the graduation ceremony, scholarships were awarded to graduates. The scholarships were awarded to a total of 45 graduating students, including Emma Stude, who graduated with a degree in Business Information Technology. Emma was awarded a scholarship for her excellent thesis. The most important aspect of Emma's studies was the work-life orientation.

– My studies went smoothly, also because I am very interested in the field. The studies are very practice-oriented and the work placement period confirmed for me once and for all that I am in the right field, says Emma happily. In addition to her graduation, Emma is excited about her new job as an Onboarding Specialist at EAS Project Ltd.
