Caring rose to the top as the number one favourite, followed by curiosity in second place, collaboration in third place and courage in fourth place.

Students who responded to the survey were able to collect an overall badge from campus libraries or info points. Badges were created to represent each of our four values.

Highlight of the comments

We received a huge number of thoughtful and insightful answers to the survey. Here, respondents share their favourite values:

Caring

"Caring for others is important both in the work environment and in the student community. Especially students should feel that they are cared for and that no one is left alone. A safe working and learning environment is essential for wellbeing."

"Caring is the foundation on which courage, curiosity and collaboration can be successfully built. Safety in its various forms makes everything possible."

Curiosity

"Curiosity drives us forward to explore, investigate and develop. Curiosity is at the core of studying. When you are curious, you are motivated to learn more and to look for new solutions."

"Curiosity is a gateway to wisdom and better interaction; it turns the fear of the unknown into an opportunity to learn something new."

Collaboration

"At Haaga-Helia, you do not necessarily have to survive on your own! There are always helpful people around. Everything is taken care of so that things run smoothly for you."

"Collaboration is Haaga-Helia’s superpower: when someone is lost in the dark, another switches on the lights. The best ideas don’t come from working alone, but in coffee-break conversations, team meetings and insights shared between students and staff. By working together, we learn more, cope better and get further than anyone could on their own."

Courage

"A courageous person dares to care, to work together and independently, and to be curious!"

"Courage helps us try new things, fail, and learn. Courage also means having the confidence to speak our minds, set boundaries, or address problems. Courage gives us all the opportunity to do things differently than others: to bring new perspectives, challenge established ways of doing things, and continuously develop better solutions!"
