The symposium will focus on the topic "Participatory approaches to development for desirable tourism futures".

The symposium has two different types of sessions, for which the call for papers is now open.

For the Disciplinary sessions we call for extended abstracts of research results based on the topics related to the symposium theme. Additionally, we have three work shop sessions, which are meant to serve as a discussion forum for new or ongoing collaborations, book projects etc.

We invite you to submit:

1. Extended abstracts at disciplinary sessions on:

  • responsibility
  • stakeholders' participation in sustainable tourism development
  • inclusive tourism
  • innovation and resilience
  • work force and resilience
  • governance and resilience
  • co-creating sustainably
  • learning, teaching and education in tourism and hospitality
  • entrepreneurship in tourism and hospitality
  • Nordic coastal tourism communities in transition
  • current research into decent work in tourism and hospitality
  • sustainable behaviour in tourism and hospitality

2. Abstracts at workshop sessions on:

  • advancements in event and festival research
  • Nordic coastal tourism communities in transition
  • the individual and the mass – rethinking relations
  • what is decent work in tourism and hospitality?
  • city tourism development
  • "open track" – any other topic or theme of interest in the Nordic tourism and hospitality research, development and project framework

The extended abstracts must be submitted by 19 April 2022.
