Student testimonial

International opportunities have always intrigued Lennart Zeidler, even as his interests shifted over time from medical field to engineering.

– Coming from a bilingual family, my parents have always inspired me to chase international opportunities and pursue a career with a global perspective.

After high school, Lennart completed his military service in the Finnish Rapid Deployment Forces, a special-trained force for international peacekeeping operations. When it was time to apply for university, Lennart was still hesitating which direction to take.

– At that time, I was really interested in business. I explored different degree programmes from various universities and found a few which sounded interesting.

Haaga-Helia was the only one providing aviation-related business studies, so the choice was easy.

– I ended up choosing Haaga-Helia’s Degree Programme in Aviation Business, mainly for its international focus. Another major reason was the unlimited opportunities that the field offers, as it’s constantly growing.

Hands-on experience from day one

Lennart describes the studies in Haaga-Helia work-oriented and practical.

– The programme provides you with skills and competences to work in many different positions in aviation, but also in other areas of business.

One of the most memorable study experiences for Lennart was managing an aviation seminar as a student project, organised in collaboration with the Finnish Aviation Museum.

– It was an unforgettable experience. We had professionals from different countries and sectors of aviation giving speeches and talking in panel discussions. It was also a great networking opportunity, allowing us to connect directly with industry professionals.

In addition, Lennart has found inspiration in the teachers, who bring years of industry experience into the classroom.

– Our teachers are easy to approach and always ready to help. Their passion in aviation really shows and they implement their knowledge and expertise into teaching.

Tips for future students

Lennart emphasises that you don’t need to be an aviation enthusiast to enjoy the field.

– I had never actually thought about aviation as a profession. But I started my studies with an open mind and with time, my interest in aviation has grown significantly.

He also highlights balancing studies with other aspects of life.

– During the studies, it is important to make time for yourself and things you enjoy. Doing something other than studying, for example exercising or spending time with friends, will keep you motivated and give fresh ideas to work with.
