Online teaching and learning have challenged teachers and students all over the world

What kind of experience have been gained during the pandemic, what has been learned for the future? These topics were discussed at the VET and COVID webinar on 24th March 2021.

'We need to stay motivated' was one of the messages from international guest speakers in the seminar. Almost 50 participants from Austria, Estonia, Germany, Norway, South Africa and Finland attended the event and the workshop.

The guest speakers from Haaga-Helia’s partner universities worldwide presented their experiences and research results regarding online teaching and learning within vocational education and teacher education during the pandemic.

The Finnish experiences and research results were also presented.

New possibilities for international collaboration

Online teaching and learning have challenged teachers and students in the same way all over the world. The pandemic has affected both vocational training and vocational teacher training.

- We share the need to further develop digital pedagogy, online assessment, and to support and empower both teachers and students to make the most of the digital advances, summarises Liisa Vanhanen-Nuutinen, Haaga-Helia, the facilitator of the event.

Despite all the challenges, working online has opened new possibilities also for international collaboration, as the teacher students from Haaga-Helia and Europaseminar from Giessen, Germany, demonstrated in the workshop, which they facilitated as a team.

The event was organised by Haaga-Helia School of Vocational Teacher Education.
