Language Day 2022 for high school students

Language Day for high school students was organized by a student team at Pasila campus on 7 November.

Language Day is an event for upper secondary school students. The event is organized by Haaga-Helia's students as a part of the Languages for International Communication course. The students plan the programme and implement the event as a normal assignment from working life and earn two credits for it, in total for a five-credit course.

Regarding the high school cooperation teachers in the Helsinki metropolitan area also have the opportunity to have Haaga-Helia's students in their own language classes to talk about international studies, for example. Haaga-Helia also offers high school student's studies from the Open University of Applied Sciences.

The aim of the Language Day is to present Haaga-Helia's English studies and language offerings to upper secondary school students and also to showcase the campus and study environment.

This autumn's event was attended by high school students from Helsingin Medialukio and Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Languages. Students and student services presented Haaga-Helia's English studies, language learning and international opportunities.

The programme also included presentations of study offerings, going through the application process, presenting studies at the Open University of Applied Sciences, and video greetings from Haaga-Helia's international students and exchange students. Towards the end of the event, high school students got to know the campus.

Upper secondary school students are particularly interested in the selection of foreign languages and international opportunities in Haaga-Helia's studies. Combining studies, work and leisure schedules also raises questions among upper secondary school students who are thinking about furthering their studies and their plans for the future.
