The attraction of vocational teacher education continues - the popularity of special needs teacher and guidance counselor education increased

The application period for Vocational Teacher Education Programmes ended on January 20. 1249 applicants applied for Haaga-Helia's programmes in the application.

The attraction of vocational teacher training continues nationwide. The most popular education programme in universities is Vocational Teacher Education Programme, to which in Haaga-Helia there were 1027 applicants this year. Those applying for English-language  teacher education (152) are also included.

Nationwide, the popularity of  Vocational Special Needs Teacher and Vocational Guidance Counselor Programmes in particular increased this year. 95 applied for  Special Needs Teacher Programme in Haaga-Helia and 127 applicants for Guidance Councellor Programme. The Haaga-Helia guidance councellor education was also somewhat higher than the previous year.

In Haaga-Helia, more students will be admitted to both teacher and guidance counselor education this year than last year. There are now a total of 400 start-up places, compared with 380 last year. 20 students will be admitted to the English-language teacher programme.

“We increased the number of students to be admitted to both teacher and guidance counselor training in this year's student search. The School of Vocational Teacher Education has also redesigned the teacher training curriculum, which takes better account of changes in vocational education and higher education, says Jari Laukia, director of the school.

Teachers already apply to vocational teacher education, who lack formal teacher qualifications, as well as those who intend to become teachers. The application period is held annually in January along with other vocational teacher colleges.

The results  will be published in late March on the Studyinfo-website. They are also reported on the Haaga-Helia's website. The results of teacher education will be published on 31 March 2022 and the results of special needs teacher and guidance councellor training will be published on 22 March 2022.
