DigiDay is an annual event that highlights the significance and effects of digitalisation. At the event, professionals from various fields present the effects of technology on their own work.

Challenge: To introduce students to the significance of digitalisation and its effects on working life today.

Each year, DigiDay brings approximately 300 students and representatives of working life to Haaga-Helia’s Porvoo campus to discuss the significance of digitalisation in modern life. The event is fully planned and produced by our students with the support of Haaga-Helia staff and partners. Overall, the project took about six months.

During the project, the students were responsible for planning and implementing the theme, concept and programme, among other things. Another important task was finding suitable partners and performers and getting them involved in the project.

Facts 

  • The fifth DigiDay was held in February 2019.
  • About 300 visitors each year.
  • The venue is Haaga-Helia’s Porvoo campus.
  • Over the years, the event has attracted several renowned participants, such as EdVisto’s CEO Joni Alwindi, Yle Radio Suomi’s host Maija Ilmoniemi and Mighty Eagle’s Peter Vesterbacka.

Result: A successful dialogue between specialists in the field and makers of the future.‍
