Alumni Survey 2025: Degree satisfaction and career opportunities
Haaga-Helia conducted an alumni survey at the turn of March and April, with respondents being students graduating in 2023 from different degrees. The survey received exactly 200 responses, and the results provide valuable information on the quality of education and its impact on career development.
Body
Satisfaction with the degree
The survey asked how satisfied graduates were with their degree two years ago on a scale of 1-6 (1=very dissatisfied, 6=very satisfied). The average score for Haaga-Helia was 4.3, indicating that the majority of respondents are satisfied with their degree. Respondents praised the degree as having provided them with the necessary tools for career progression and as a stepping stone to a new career. The teaching was considered to be of high quality.
Challenges of employment
While many respondents were satisfied with their degree, some have not found a job in their field. The reason given for this was often the poor economic situation. In addition, respondents felt that the value of a degree from Haaga-Helia varies, and employers do not always understand the differences in qualifications.
Testimonials
The survey also asked whether graduates would recommend Haaga-Helia as a place to study. The results were distributed as follows:
- 35% rated 9 or 10 (promoters)
- 42% rated 7 or 8 (passive)
- 23% gave a score of 0-6 (detractors)
The recommenders particularly appreciated the excellence of the courses and teachers, as well as the flexibility of the studies. The education gave the opportunity to work in a wide range of fields and was praised for its practical relevance. Passive respondents considered the training to be mainly professional and felt that the degree provided a good basis for the world of work, but there were differences in the quality of teaching, for example. Detractors pointed out, among other things, the poor working situation and the different assessment methods used in the courses.
Encouragement for current students
Graduates encouraged current students to study skills such as AI and other IT skills, project management, critical thinking and problem solving, stress management and resilience, presentation skills, initiative and self-management.
