In some courses of Aviation Business degree programme in Porvoo, the teaching has been conducted entirely by a company, which is against Haaga-Helia’s policies.
When the case came to the top management’s knowledge in the beginning of October, actions were taken immediately to fix the situation. Later, the Ministry of Education and Culture (OKM) made a request for clarification to Haaga-Helia concerning this case. The response will be given by November 13th, 2020. The response clarifies that Haaga-Helia has terminated all cooperation with the company on October 31st, 2020.
After the responsible Degree Programme Director resigned last Monday November 2nd 2020, Kiti Häkkinen works as the Programme Director in Aviation Business, for the time being, alongside her own post to guarantee the normal progress of studies. The required recruitments of a new director and teachers have already been started.
Haaga-Helia deeply regrets that this has occurred and will do its best to normalise the situation. The internal instructions as well as reporting and monitoring policies will naturally be inspected, so similar cases will not happen in the future.
