There will be a maintenance break on Pepi today, Monday, from 2 pm to 3 pm.
The travel restrictions caused by coronavirus have decreased significantly the number of travellers, which has had an immediate effect on companies such as Finavia, Finnair and Norra in Finland. Therefore, Haaga-Helia wants to support the employees who have been permanently or temporarily laid off in these companies by offering free online courses from our Porvoo campus.
- We have witnessed the trouble and uncertainty related to this situation and want to help the employees to overcome these difficult times, says Maija Eklöf, the director of the Aviation business degree programme.
The employees who have been laid off temporarily or permanently due to coronavirus can study courses from the Business aviation programme free of charge. The courses provided are Digital airline management and Airport digital customer journey, both worth of 5 ECTS and conducted online.
- It is clear that this situation changes the world but aviation business is not ending. When the situation stabilises, aviation industry needs skilled employees rapidly. Airline companies and other operators in the industry want to hire employees who already have basic knowledge of this very unique and regulated business.
The employees will get information about registering for the courses from their employer. Already during the first week, we have received nearly hundred registrations.
Due to the circumstances caused by coronavirus, Haaga-Helia offers summer courses from the Open UAS for unemployed and temporarily laid off employees free of charge. This offer concerns all new registrations for the courses organised during 25 May – 31 August. The registration period has begun 9 April 2020.
The Study services will provide more information about application and registration. A proof of unemployment will be required when registering to the courses. There are a limited number of places available.
