Degree director Risto Karmavuo elected to THE-ICE Board of Directors

Haaga-Helia’s Degree Director of Hospitality Management Risto Karmavuo has been elected to the Board of Directors of the International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE).

THE-ICE held its annual general meeting in Melbourne 30 October 2023. Karmavuo’s term of office in the Board of Directors will be three years.

THE-ICE was established in 2004 by the Australian Federal Government to develop benchmarks and promote excellence in tourism, hospitality and events (TH&E). THE-ICE has developed into a global organisation for accreditation, benchmarking, and quality enhancement in tourism, hospitality, events and culinary arts (TH&E) education, with a network of 44 members in 19 countries across four continents.

Haaga-Helia’s international Hospitality, Tourism and Experience Management programme was accredited in 2021.
