International Business (full-time), the entrance examination outside Finland

The entrance examination will be arranged fully online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are sorry for any inconvenience this arrangement might cause you.

The examination is free of charge.

This online entrance examination will be organized for the following Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences’ Degree programmes:

  • International Business, Helsinki
  • Hospitality, Tourism and Experience Management, Helsinki
  • Tourism and Event Management, Porvoo

THE TIMING OF THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

There will be a Written Part on Wednesday 10 March 2021. The online examination will be organised simultaneously for all applicants at 11:00 - 13:00 o´clock (Helsinki time = UCT+2).

This means that you need to check the timing of your own region/country (you can use the timezone converter).

Some examples of the timing:

  • 12:00 - 14:00 (St Petersburg time = UCT+3)
  • 16:00 - 18:00 (Ho Chi Minh City time = UCT+7)
  • 17:00 - 19:00 (Suzhou time = UCT+8)

Applicants will receive an invitation to the entrance exam through email by 16 February 2021 and an individual link to the online exam through email from “Haaga-Helia UAS via messages-noreply@webropolsurveys.com“ on 9 March 2021. Remember to check also your junk mail folder.

Based on the Written Part, 40 applicants who have passed with the highest scores will be invited to an Interview Part which will be held 23 March 2021. The information as to whether you have been accepted or not to the Interview Part will be sent to you by email at the latest 18 March 2021. You will also receive your interview date and time (30 minutes) and more detailed instructions in the email.                

THE STRUCTURE OF THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

          Written Part tasks:

  • Multiple-choice questions based on material given in the examination (min 4 points and max 10 points)
  • Essay writing test based on material given in the examination (min 10 points and max 30 points)
  • Logical thinking and mathematics test (min 8 points and max 30 points)

           Interview Part (min 10 points and max 30 points)                          

All tasks will be in English. There is no pre-reading material for the Written or the Interview Part. All material will be given to you during the entrance examination.

The applicants must receive the minimum accepted score in all the entrance examination tasks and parts in order to qualify in the selection process. Missing or failing one part or task means failing the whole entrance examination.

The Written and Interview Parts of the entrance examination will test your English language skills. A separate English language test will not be arranged.

The aim of the Interview Part is to measure your motivation, suitability and career orientation towards the chosen studies, realistic expectations to complete the bachelor's studies and oral English language skills required in the Haaga-Helia degree programmes.

PERSONAL ITEMS NEEDED FOR THE EXAMINATION AND IDENTIFICATION

Please check that you have a good internet connection available. If any problems arise, please contact +358 503462112.

For the Written Part, you must have a computer with internet access and a quiet room where you will complete the examination alone. Please make sure that all the latest updates have been installed on your computer and your computer is charged. You are allowed to use dictionaries and a calculator. Have some paper sheets and a pencil available. You are not allowed to visit other internet sites, use your phone or communicate with other people during the exam.

The system supports following up-to-date browsers NOT Internet Explorer

  • Chrome
  • Edge
  • Firefox
  • Safari

Please make sure that you have Java Script and cookies enabled.

For the Interview Part, you will need a computer, webcam, good internet connection and an ID. Only the following types of IDs are accepted: a valid passport, an official Finnish ID card, a Finnish Driving License, or a valid national Identity Card from your home country. Other types of IDs are not accepted.

PRACTICAL ARRANGEMENTS OF THE WRITTEN PART

At 10:45 Finnish time, go into a quiet room alone with your computer, so that you will be able to focus on the examination as well as possible. Check that the internet connection is good. The entrance examination will open at 11:00 Finnish time/EET/GMT+2.

Write the tasks in the form and submit by 13:00 Finnish time sharp.

ACCEPTANCE OF ENTRANCE EXAM RESULTS

The results from this Haaga-Helia entrance examination are accepted in all of these three degree programmes:

  • International Business
  • Hospitality, Tourism and Experience Management
  • Tourism and Event Management

Scores received in other degree programmes in Finland or abroad are not transferable/accepted.

STUDENT SELECTION

Please note that you may accept only one study place during one academic term (1 August - 31 December 2021) in Universities of Applied Sciences and Universities in Finland.

The results of the student selection will be published in www.studyinfo.fi in the My Studyinfo section on 4 June 2021 at the latest. The final results may become available earlier. You must confirm your study place by 16 July 2021 at 15:00 Finnish time (UCT+2) at the latest.

You can confirm your study place online in My StudyInfo or by submitting a paper confirmation form to Haaga-Helia Admission Services by the deadline by email.

Please note also that the admission of a student is conditional until Haaga-Helia has checked the applicant's school and other relevant certificates (copies by 16 July 2021 at 15:00 Finnish time, UCT+2, and originals by orientation days in August). Haaga-Helia may withdraw the admission, if the applicant does not provide his/her certificates by the deadline or if he/she has given inadequate or false information. All relevant documents will be checked if you are accepted to the programme, so please do not take those to the entrance examination.
